This was the award given to Barry & Jennifer in May 2003. Many noted they looked unconfortable as they received it. When they explained later to Pastor Wallace, Pastor Cumberlin and Kevin Phillips they thought it was too 'Hollywood ' for a church and would do nothing to raise up dedicated volunteers they were ridiculed. Pastor Wallace noted he had had hundreds of emails from members saying how wonderful it was.

The Pendergasts would later reflect on this when they attended a volunteer reception for the Mustard Seed Ministry. No awards for anybody, and year after year an abundance of enthusiastic volunteers. The secret is the display of servanthood by Pat Nixon and his team - people love to follow good servant leaders.
