Elder Edwards played a major role as the Elders spokesman with Rolly Laing the Mediator/Moderator. This was throughout the period from December 2003 to September 2004 when Mr. Laing retired from involvement. When Rolly Laing assured the Pendergasts that the Elders were acting in good faith, it is assumed that viewpoint came from his discussions with Elder Edwards.

After the second excommunication and days before the Pendergasts were due to leave for a badly needed4 week holiday in Australia Barry wrote this email to Craig Ewards. The Elders knew the Pendergasts would be away when they planned November 2004 members meeting to discuss the 'Pendergats ' situation.

There was no reply and the Elders and NABC unbelievably went ahead the information meeting. Just another part in the ongoing acts of unfair activities against Barry & Jennifer. The continued humiliation caused great hurt to the Pendergasts. That a whole congregation allowed the elders, pastors and NABC to go ahead and try to sweep the affair under the carpet is unfathomable.

The Pendergasts and others continue to request an independent enquiry.

Attaching my diary notes from my meeting with Ron Berg 2nd October 2003 and a meeting with Diane Young 5th Oct 2003. Diane refused to intervene on our behalf even though we told her we believed we, and others had been abused by the SCCC pastoral team. In view of the terrible harm done to us by you and your fellow elders, and in accordance with Matt 18:15 I'd like an explanation of why you did not act on our appeal to Diane and many more requests for third party intervention. Ron Berg's documented call for mediation to Jim Wallace and Kevin Phillips fell on deaf ears.

Subsequent admissions by you, and other elders in front of Rolly Lang show you did not have any legitimate evidence of wrongdoing on our part. Yet you have hounded us for a year. For what purpose? To satisfy an anger that has been obvious in every letter, email and meeting with you? Anger expressed directly to us by staff and ministry leaders. What and who has fueled this anger?

Other evidence in our possession shows concern about the validity of Denise Chaulk's disclosure to you of one personal and private email. She and her husband had previously expressed considerable concern about Jim Wallace and another pastor to us and others.

Your involvement in the Runions affair also raises questions about your fitness as an elder. We find it deplorable that you withheld a letter given you in Feb 2004 that references us and Jim Grady. Why was Jim Grady and ourselves not informed in February? Why did you encourage a grievance process that did not follow Matt 18:15? That this happened while we were holding sensitive negotiations with you on a reconciliation, in good faith with Rolly Lang raises even more concern. Why was it used as a 'weapon' against Jim Grady last Saturday? Its unbelievable that you as a man of God could do this!

I am also asking why you have personally endorsed a decision to hold a members meeting on Nov 17 2004 to discuss our situation without our presence. In our agreement earlier this year you apologized for failure to observe certain biblical and legal responsibilities of fairness and natural justice. We believe you are continuing to do just the same but at a more serious level. We will hold you personally accountable for any further harm that you do us. At the present time Jennifer is extremely ill due the deliberate stress you and others have maliciously caused us.

Please know that we will be pressing for an independent, impartial public enquiry to investigate matters we brought to your attention at a recent meeting with Rolly Lang. We have many more concerns that you did not permit us to raise at our last meeting with the elders alone. Instead you accused us falsely on a number of issues. Again Matthew 18:15 was ignored by you and the accusers. Such an enquiry would be free to examine our own role in this terrible situation.

Lastly I'd like your comment on a statement given by pastor Wallace during a recent sermon; " Ezek 34 is one of the most misunderstood passages in the bible...it is often used to unfairly criticize church leaders". Seems to us the passage is very clear on your responsibilities as an elder. A responsibility you have failed to observe on many fronts.
