Just had a very distressed Denise Chaulk on the phone pleading for us to let the elders deal with our problems - afraid I was very tough on her - told some truths about Jim & Marg - was a long call - told her many times we will only meet with an independent expert - she rejected it claiming it was unscriptual - the elders must deal with it, I replied we were advised by many Christian experts not to allow ourselves to be abused again without a mediator and that Kevin Phillips witnessed some abuse. Said I was fed up with people on the outside saying Jim was a control freak. Afraid in the end I put the phone down - guess at least one person called. I did say there were many cases of similar abuse but she said why had we not brought them to the elder? The old perpetual circle....
Just got a whole brochure from Ron Susek from Firestorm - looks encouraging. If only we could get him to come and sort us all out.

Meanwhile, the Pendergasts say they hope to work with Christian academic institutions to openly discuss the topic of spiritual abuse with future church leaders, perhaps developing manuals and a think tank. Last fall they helped to organize a spiritual abuse seminar at Alberta Bible College.
“We want to be very proactive and develop more discerning followers who are critical thinkers who will follow good leaders with a vision and proper attitude but be wiling to take a stand on any form of subtle or deep abuse,” says Barry. “It’s of great importance to us to seek out proactive ways to heal the abusers as well as heal the abused.”
