Thought it was over

Just four days later Kevin Phillips, Chairman of the Elders with Pastors Wallace and Cumberlin would help in an attack of the Pendergasts on 18th September 2003. This letter shows how naive Barry & Jennifer were in feeling they could trust Kevin. It would take a year to realise just how devious Kevin Phillips had been. Was he influenced by Pastors Wallace & Cumberlin? Other staff members and a member of the greater Christian community have suggested Pastor Wallace will fight to the finish when anybody challenges his authority.

The question on meeting to discuss the experinece on the Leadership Summit was also sent to Pastors Wallace & Cumberlin. None responded.

Subject: Last Night

Kevin
We both wanted to thank you for your calm professional approach last night in a very difficult situation. You kind words were not missed even in the heat of the conversation. We pray some long term lessons in communication will be learnt from this terrible situation especially on the marriage course. Much of the information given out at the recent Leadership Summit dealt with problems/conflicts in a church setting and how to deal proactively with them. I'd be happy to meet with you and other attendees from SCCC to see what we all learnt from those sessions and how to apply it to making SCCC a better place. I know that Samaritan's Purse/BGEA had 25 staff there and did a great deal of work collectively after each session to see what lessons could be used as they bring together Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association into one entity. Diane Young your fellow Elder could tell you more about their experience and if it was valuable.
Hope your early rising did not cause you problems in your meetings. Have a great day!
Barry
