A Message from Our Pastors 2001

Updated 28th Jnauary 2006

A number of questions relate to this page "function as a team, not a hierarchy" - "We love, support , and care deeply for each others" .

Interesting that two pastors in the picture are no longer at South Calgary. Mike Wiebe 'forced' out as his four predecessors in youth ministry. At least he had the chance to resign and leave in a reasonable transition period. Despite the wonderful statements on this page there was a total lack of accountability between the pastors - Pastor Wallace said jump and the others said how high! They stood by as members of the congregation and other members of staff were abused. There is a suggestion that Pastor Blanton's wife Elaine was the target of abuse that led her to her being counselled for anger management by Pastor Marg Cumberlin. It followed a highly successful childrens' music production led by Elaine in which she had to speak sharply a few times to the young participants. Seemed strange that a highly qualified and capable teacher like Elaine be treated like this. The case of Denise Chaulk stepping down from her chair of the elders position to be counselled by Marg Cumberlin for six months another strange example. Pastor Marg Cumberlin accusing Barry Pendergast of having an anger problem another attempt to put blame on others and get him into counselling? Seemed Wallace and Cumberlin were badly in need of anger counseling themselves yet nobody dare suggest it. Was this what is meant of as authentic relationships noted below?.

Then this example of Barry & Jennifer reaching out for help to the Pastor Blanton & his wife Elaine in the midst of the first wave of attacks on them, a family they had been close to before - was this authentic or just a sign of fear from above over what might happen? See this example.Just how often did Pastor Blanton & other staff members sit quietly on the sidelines while they were aware others were being abused by Wallace, Cumberlin and the Elders in a known pattern of abuse much beyond the rough and tumble of normal church life?

As noted below there is no doubt members of a congregation are impacted by what behavior is modelled by the pastors/ministers and elders in any church. We will leave the visitors to this site to compare this page of fantasy with what is noted elsewhere on this site. Other examples exist outside of the South Calgary environment where reports suggest the 'beloved' Pastor Wallace had to have his own way. The failed Campus Crusade event in the 90's a likely case in point. We will add more soon.

We know many churches where true Christ like attitudes are modelled by the leaders and we praise God for those true servants. If you have a good example please share it with us - we want this site to be one of inspiration and hope.
