Here future elder Jim Prichard admits he has been approached by Barry Pendergast under Matthew 18:15 but instead of meeting as requested he notifies the elders that he will not meet until the Pendergasts meet the elders. Of what interest is it to him? Looks on the surface to be blackmail on the part of Jim and the elders. Needless to say Jim went on to be nominated and elected as an elder despite the elders and congregation knowing he had an outstanding grievance leveled at him. Is that how Matthew 18 is meant to work.
