| Ladies Time Out
updated 12 May 2005 In early August 2003 Jennifer is being welcomed back as part of the Time Out Committee ready to start leading the caring of the pre school children and preparing to lead another parenting course. Within weeks her life is in shatters caused by the cruel and unfair actions of her fellow committee members as she is stripped of her duties and humiliated in front of the attending women. Just because she and her husband Barry raised legitimate questions of unethical actions on the part of the senior pastor and his ministry leader wife. The pain was greater than Jennifer had experienced at the loss of her son Simon in 1991. Pastor Cumberlin and Elder Denise Chaulk stand out for their especially cruel actions in this sad affair. Also the other elders who were brought in to 'patrol' the Time Out sessions to ensure Jennifer did not protest. Praise God for the few who can also attest to this cruel action by those to purport to be Godly women. Jennifer was rushed to the emergency ward at Foothills Hospital, then to the cardiac ward, for 4 days in mid March 2003. The doctors all attributed the suspected heart attack to the terrible stress she and her husband had been under at the church. She was rushed again to emergency on the anniversary of her son's death on May 13th 2003. Again doctors said the continuing stress and hostility at the church was the main contributory cause. Here's what another lady who ran the Ladies time Out Ministry a few years earlier experienced after she wrote a letter asking for reasonable change: "Marg then told me that what I said I was hearing from God was wrong and that what they were hearing from God was right. (This was huge for me because I grew up at Prairie Bible Inst. where I was taught that I was never to question my spiritual authority.) This lady ended up requiring extensive medical treatment to help her recover the cruel treatment she received at the hands of Pastor Cumberlin and the Ladies Time Out committee. We will be adding more of this lady's story as time goes on. Most who read it will not be able to believe it could happen in a Christian church. At least when she heard Jennifer's account she realized she was not alone...she felt validated. Multiple attempts to address these concerns, both in 2003 and 2004 with Pastor Cumberlin, Ministry Leader Melanie Schmidt, Cathy Taubensee, Ron Berg at NABC and others including the Elders were just ignored. It's time for a full and independent enquiry into who orchestrated this unacceptable behavior that has caused severe stress and illness in the lives of these two dedicated ladies. There are just too many parallels |
