"Even with respect to the most highly-trusted professions, such as Nurses and Doctors, Canadians are placing less trust in people compared to last year. Regarding professions in the middle of the index, such as Lawyers, Environmentalists, Bankers, and Accountants - Canadians have shifted toward even less trust as well as toward increasing levels of distrust."

The level of pubic trust for the clergy is hardy encouraging and perhaps explains why the church has had so little influence in Canadian politics.
